Seb Larsson in action against Ipswich
Sebastian Larsson says that last night's first half performance against Ipswich was probably Blues' "best half of the season".

The 2-1 victory over the Tractor Boys also saw Blues extend the gap between themselves and third placed Reading to six points.

Although with Wolves also winning at Sheffield United Alex McLeish's team still trail the Championship leaders by the same margin.

"It was a great win," said Larsson.

"The first half was maybe our best half of the season.

"I thought it was a really good and maybe we could have even added another goal before half time.

"The most pleasing thing was that we actually passed the ball around and we looked quite comfortable with it.

"We passed it at the back; we passed it in midfield and created some chances.

"We were not as good in the second half but I thought we were still comfortable for the most part and had several chances to put the ball away.

larsson"Then in the end a sloppy bit of play from me gave them a corner and they stuck it away.

"That always makes you a little it nervous but overall it was a good performance and I thought it was more comfortable than the scoreline showed."

The Swedish midfielder put in what was arguably his best showing of the season and he credits that to the overall team play of his side.

"On a personal level it felt good," he added.

"I think that was the result of us keeping the ball and passing the ball.

"It opened up and I got the ball quite a few times with a bit of space.

"With runners going it's easier then to try and pick a pass and try and do something.

"When we play like that it makes it lot easier for individuals as well."

Blues now face the sternest test of their credentials to date this coming Saturday when they face Wolves at the Molineux and Larsson says that both sides will go into the top of the table clash in a confident mood.

"We've got to keep building on the last decent performance," he added.

"Before these three games we were really disappointed not picking up a win in three games so we knew it was important to come back strong and we have now and a few other teams have dropped a few points so it's set us nicely so far.

"We want to build a gap and we are also looking really strong.

"When we do play well like this we're very dangerous.

"But Wolves are doing really well at the moment and scoring a lot of goals.

"It will be two teams who are really confident next weekend and hopefully it can be a good game because at least we showed against Ipswich we can play some good football as well.

"It will be a really tough game but you want to be in top of the table clashes.
