Alex McLeish has confirmed that new signing Teemu Tainio will go straight into the Blues squad to face Villa on Sunday.

The Finnish international, who joined Blues on a season long loan from Sunderland last week, linked up with his new Blues colleagues on the training pitches for the first time today following his return from international duty.

"Teemu's back and I saw him this morning," confirmed McLeish.

"He didn't play midweek (against Lichtenstein) because he got kicked at the weekend (against Azerbaijan).

"He had a scan on Monday it was clear, but it was decided against playing him during the week and he's turned up for training today.

"With the shortage of numbers we've got he'll be in the squad."

Meanwhile McLeish says that he will make a last minute decision on the fitness of French full back Gregory Vignal who has missed Blues' last three games because of a hamstring injury.

"Vignal has a hamstring tear," said McLeish.

"It might look small on the scan but hamstrings are notorious for taking three to four weeks and he's at the three barrier.

"He's made good progress, but we'll make a last minute decision on it."
