LARSSON PRAISES CHARACTER
Sebastian Larsson has paid tribute to the strength of character that continues to course through the Blues side, writes Colin Tattum in the Birmingham Mail.
Although Blues couldn't make it six wins out of six at Everton yesterday, they recovered from an unsteady and unspectacular start to leave Goodison Park with a point.
"We feel very strong at the moment," the Swedish star told the Birmingham Mail.
"When you come back from losing positions, a goal behind, it makes you even stronger. You get more belief, rather than if you're in winning positions all the time.
"We showed great character again. We said before the game that we are capable of coming back from losing positions, so it's not as if we think everything is over if we go a goal down.
"The spirit and belief we've got at the moment is excellent. We take the draw and move on - the unbeaten run keeps going."
Larsson said that Blues, who moved back up to seventh in the Premier League table, had to be content with the result in the end.
"We want to win every game but we have to take that as a very good point I think, especially after the start we had.
"For some reason we were very slow out of the traps. They started well. We started very sloppily.
"We gave them a goal. It was poor from us and it was uphill from there.
"We were sort of panicking on the ball - I don't know what it was.
"We spoke about it before the game. We knew that they were going to come at us, especially with the way they had been struggling at home.
"But, you know, although it was tough conceding to them, we sort of got our goal at the right time and then that took the wind out of them. It calmed us down and we started pass the ball about better.
"From then on it was pretty even in the half and in the second-half, there wasn't much.
"I know they had the ball and kept pumping it forward and in the second part of the second half we seemed to tire a bit. We didn't get men forward as much and got a bit protective of the draw.
"But we stayed strong defensively and we've got to be happy with the point, especially with the conditions in the second-half. The wind was against us and they kept pumping the board forward."
