Defender Gregory Vignal joined Blues in August 2009 from French side FC Lens.
The left back signed an initial one year deal with a one year option.
The Frenchman began his career as a youth player at Montpellier, before Liverpool snapped him up for £500,000 as a 19-year-old.
He clocked up 20 first team appearances during five years as a Reds player, although during that time he spent prolonged loan spells at Bastia, Rennes, Espanyol and Rangers.
Vignal was a regular in the Gers side managed by McLeish in 2004/05.
In recent years he has played for Portsmouth and Lens, and had a loan spell at Southampton in 2007/08.
